Street height glass entries to the retail units. Hotel tower reduces in height towards the residential street Heritage brick base with rising contemporary tower above

70 Pakington St Geelong West

The first proposal in the developing Geelong West Pakington North Precinct. This building blends a heritage sensitive podium with a contemporary hotel tower above. The heavy brick base houses the building’s retail units behind a clear sheet of street height glazing between a rhythm of brick pilasters.

The podium reflects and takes on the theme of a classic proud corner store and utilises the glazed green brick to bring a contemporary spin to the traditional material.

With sensitive colouring, and a reflective curtain wall, the tapered fins give the tower a sense of verticality and feathers towards the sky. The hotel is accessed through an intimate scale laneway behind the building with an attached cafe.
